Notice
One message root shows under the header of every page people see once signed in, such as a maintenance window: what it may hold, its tone, and when it shows again after someone closes it.

Notice
Notice is one message that root shows under the header of every page people see once signed in, such as a maintenance window or “this is a demo”. It is Settings' fifth tab (/admin/settings?tab=notice), and only root can open it. The sign-in page doesn't show it.
- Message: plain text on one line, up to 500 characters, with no HTML. To put a link inside the sentence, write it as
[words](address): up to 3 links, the words up to 60 characters, and the address eitherhttps://…or a page on this site, which starts with a single/. A link with an address that isn't allowed, or more than 3 links, is refused when you save. - Tone: Information, a light blue notice, or Warning, amber, for something that needs care, such as data that will be reset.
- Show the notice: on or off. Turning it off keeps the text, so you can turn it on again. A message can't be shown while it is empty.
A Preview under the fields draws the notice as you type, and a line below it says who changed it last (“Last changed by”). Save applies at once, on every page.
Everyone signed in sees the notice, and each person closes it with the ✕ icon in its box. That is remembered by browser, not by account, for a year: in another browser or on another device the notice shows again. It also comes back, in the same browser, when you change the message or the tone, but not when you only hide and show it again.
The notice is your own text, so it isn't translated: write it in the language your people read. A change is in the audit log as settings.notice, with the tone and whether it was shown, before and after, but not the text.
